Hello All!
So, had Chemistry yesterday, and trying to now make sense of
Simple Covalent Compounds.
There are 3 ways to represent Simple Covalent Compounds, and
I’m going to show them to you using the example of Ammonia, NH3
1.
The Dot-And-Cross Diagram Way:
2.
The Lines Diagram Way:
3.
The Outer Energy Level Way:
Hydrogen has 1 electron in its highest energy level, so it needs 1 more to complete its outer shell.
Nitrogen has 5 electrons in its highest energy level, so it needs 3 more to complete its outer shell.
So, Nitrogen shares the only 3 electrons from the 3 Hydrogen atoms, and the Hydrogen atoms share 3 of the 5 Nitrogen outer shell electrons.

So, do you get it?
I do!....
I think...hmm...
